LENAE DAY Wins 2013 Grant and Project Room Show

22 Oct

Out of each 5790projects show, a selection committee nominates one featured artist to be considered for the annually-awarded Moore Family Trust Grant. This prize consists of a $1,000 cash prize and a Project Room show at Mark Moore Gallery in January of the following year. After much deliberation, the committee has elected to award the 2013 prize to interdisciplinary artist, Lenae Day.

Featured in June’s one-night performance art exhibition, “Zero Down,” Lenae’s “Dancing Dotty” performance earned her attention from ArtsBeatLA, Fabrik Magazine, and LA Art Theory. Born in 1986 in Berlin, Germany, Day received her BFA in Art from Western Washington University. She has had a solo exhibition in Seattle, in addition to inclusion in group shows at the Museum of Radio and Electricity (WA), Whatcom Museum (WA), and Rock Paper Scissors Gallery (CA). Her practice includes performance, photography, costuming, installation, video, and creative writing. Her upcoming Project Room show with Mark Moore Gallery will be her first solo exhibition in Los Angeles.

Lenae’s Project Room show (yet to be titled) will open on Saturday, January 11, from 6-8pm, alongside Thomas Woodruff. Both exhibitions will remain on view through February 15, 2014. We congratulate Lenae on this achievement, as well as all of our other nominees!
